In the case of a stimulant like meth, this can raise body temperatures, blood pressure and heart rates to dangerous levels, causing a heart attack or stroke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meth is often sold illegally on the streets, which makes its chemical compound even more dangerous. Other names for meth (short for methamphetamine) include crystal meth, ice, speed and crank. People who have died from meth use could not take this survey. In 2019 alone,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.drugabuse.gov\/drug-topics\/trends-statistics\/overdose-death-rates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">16,167<\/a>&nbsp;people died from an overdose on psychostimulants in the U.S., primarily from meth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"what-happens-when-you-overdose-on-meth\">What Happens When You Overdose on Meth?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A meth overdose overstimulates the body and brain, which can be fatal.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dea.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2020-04\/Drugs%20of%20Abuse%202020-Web%20Version-508%20compliant-4-24-20_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">When you overdose on meth<\/a>, your body can become severely overheated, causing organ failure.
